In an earlier article on information business online, we've discussed 3 basic issues:

  1. There is no dearth of ideas that can translate into successful business online. Many of us have fairly good knowledge about one or more subjects, and it is not difficult to start a website and make that knowledge available to others, thereby earning some money.
  2. Although starting a website is relatively easy, what is not is how you want your business online to proceed. For this planning is required and also a niche category on which to build the foundation of your business. Which means like offline business, business online too needs a direction to grow and thrive.
  3. It's a myth that a good-looking website is a must to succeed online. On the other hand, even if a website doesn't look attractive, it can do very well business online provided the 2 conditions above are met.

In this article, our focus will be on 2 other pressing issues that often act as barriers to successful business online.

Lack Of Technical Skill

Many technical issues are involved in making a website succeed in business online. Big websites can afford to hire experts to address the technical requirements, but not so the small websites owners like retirees or work-at-home moms or dads.

For them the choice is to either 'do it yourself' or look for cheap alternatives. Unfortunately, cheap alternatives are just that - cheap. Since the competition is not with next-door neighbors but with all similar websites from every corner of the world, the lure of cheap alternatives must be firmly put off.

Having said that, what are the technicalities to start website for your business online? Here's a glimpse of them beginning with designing a website:

  1. Website designing
  2. Hosting website
  3. Searching relevant keywords
  4. Optimizing web contents to make them crawler-friendly
  5. Submitting to search engines and directories
  6. Finding link partners and building incoming links
  7. Studying log files and taking action for improvement
  8. Taking other actions like advertising, socializing, etc to popularize website

There are other issues, but the 8 above are considered the most crucial for successful business online. Of the 8, the first 2 are usually one-time occurrence, while the remaining 6 will continue to claim your attention.

Notice I've not in the list above mentioned content writing, or shall we say, content development plan, which by far is the lifeblood of your website. I have not mentioned it because this is where you may not need outside expertise.

For the rest you need others' assistance if you're not a DIY person, and as I've said above, these are very important for your online business to survive and grow.

Let the prospect of technical necessities not deter you launch your website, for unless you actually do it, the chance of making it big with your business online will remain a distant dream.

If so, being a non-technical person you're, what are your options to begin a business online that could become immensely profitable?

The answer is SiteSell. When I started this site, I decided to use SiteSell's package that takes care of all the technical needs for a website to succeed. No, it doesn't do everything automatically.

You've to do things yourself, but the way it guides you through the maze of technicalities, you'll never feel you didn't know what you're doing. SiteSell makes it easy for beginners who have no prior experience yet have dreams in eyes to strike it rich with their business online.

The good point is you've access to free trial of SiteSell package, and even actual users are there to answer your every doubt, and all this before you decide to buy one for your online business.

Undue Expectation

Okay, now you've your website online. Business is however still lukewarm. Has something gone wrong? Why is your site not ranking on the first page of search engine results? Visitors are coming but not buying, why?

Questions such as these haunt every new website owner. Don't loose heart, for if you do, you may get yourself trapped by those who offer instantaneous benefits.

The truth is there is no such thing as immediate gains. Yes, traffic can be had through PPC ads (there is an excellent book by Andrew Goodman to help you: Winning Results With Google AdWords), but what will traffic do unless you've good amount of contents!

The moot point is do not expect any immediate upturn in your traffic volume, and even after that happens, conversion to sale may still be some way of.

It can be anywhere from 6 to 8 months to generate enough traffic provided you're constantly continuing to pile up relevant targeted contents.

And then it can indeed be spelling success for all your painstaking efforts. Have faith in yourself, and remember Internet is so huge out there that you've as much chance to succeed in your business online as others.
