The bedrock of any selling is trust between seller and buyer. Online selling is no different. In fact, in this case, the onus is on seller to do everything possible in her website that effuses warmth, faith and trust in order to win buyer's mind. What else but good amount of content can achieve that? Because any which way you look at it, content is the most important attribute of any website.

Every festive season, my friendly neighborhood seller of children's toys would wish to start an online selling store. Upon coffee and biscuits, I've explained her umpteen times how can online selling shore up her small business significantly. Each time she would vigorously nod his assent, only to backtrack later.

My toy-selling friend suffers from uncertainty as to whether her online venture would really succeed. She doesn't lack minimum finances to start, she can manage some time to spend on her online store, and she certainly is not a know-nothing sort of person so as not to be able to run her show.

Compared to her supposedly low-key business (that is how she terms it), she is remarkably acquainted with ways of web marketing, and in fact she even wrote a couple of pieces on it in her son's school open journal that won her accolades.

Yet when it comes to writing content for her online selling business, she feels she is not up to it. "After all," she argues, "it's vastly different writing on web than writing in school journal."

I'm partially responsible for her dilemma. I'd strongly opined that unless there is sufficient targeted and relevant website content, she may not possibly succeed, no matter how good her merchandise is.

I also advocated that her site would need to evoke belief in the minds of buyers that she indeed is an expert and dependable for whatever she is selling online.

And what else but good content development plan can achieve that? For, apart from possibility of top search rank, good contents will also speak eloquent about her ability and business.

But then I did not leave her in lurch. She could, if she wished, read the excellent e-book, Make Your Site Sell, that is considered the Bible for selling online. The good thing is the e-book doesn't cost a penny; it is completely free to download.

Looking at my friend's dilly-dally, it becomes apparent that many wannabe online selling ventures fail to take off for want of ability to write good and meaningful content. This is sad because selling online isn't really that difficult.

The manner in which Internet is spreading its reach far and wide, chance is sooner than later every business, small or big, will perforce need to have web presence to sustain and grow.

If this is true, so too is the fact that websites will need solid contents, once again to sustain and grow.

Surprisingly, many website owners still fail to make a connection between online selling and the necessity of having sufficiently large volume of targeted content.

My guess is this happens because many of them feel they are not adept at content development the right way, making them overlook its importance by default.

Fortunately, Make Your Site Sell or MYSS is a ready help for all who feel retarded by the 'awesome' prospect of writing their own content.
