I may like to be a purist, preferring blogs to focus on quality as against quantity. But blogging has surely traversed a long path balancing between the extremes. And what perhaps has emerged the winner is 'quantity'. Which means the premium is less on wholesomeness of contents, while quantity remaining more important.

Often time comes when you look back and see how you've performed in recent past compared to what you did before that. On occasions like this it is time for stock taking, for analyzing events that have or haven't brought you success, and to make some honest appraisals.

Looking back, I haven't done bad though it could be better. There have been writing assignments, some of which quite exciting, some not so. Overall it was okay.

Where I lacked was not writing enough contents for this blog. As you can see there are gaps between my posts, in some cases stretching by nearly a week.

It's not that I haven't had topics to write on. In fact there are quite a few I'm itching to put my views on. The reason I couldn't muster many articles is because I barely had time over the most of last couple of months. And it's still continuing.

There are works to complete, and perhaps this is not bad. For, after all they fetch me money. But I feel uncomfortable in that I'm not able to contribute to my blog which I love doing.

What's the way out? Will I take recourse to one of those automatic content generators like instant article wizard or secret article profits? They are good no doubt, going by what many users have to say.

Or, shall I shun using any artificial prop, and instead write whenever time and mood permit? This is a dicey situation.

On one hand the saying goes unless there's good amount of contents every single day, chance is the blog will gradually slip into oblivion. Why, I myself attributed to this theory in the past. And indeed I experienced the same in this blog itself.

While the jury is out on whether own cultivation is better than borrowing someone else's harvest, can there be a middle path that borders on both yet has its own flavor?

If so, the trick would perhaps be to use the content generators above to search and copy contents based on keywords. After initial cutting and assembling, the content will need some polishing, and that would call for intelligent makeup.

Would I like this way to produce articles? Frankly, I don't know. I've the company of 2 great articles, Spend Time Blogging Wisely - It's An Investment, and Blogging To Build A Community, and both say it's not the quantity that matters. Rather it's the quality of a blog that inspires people.

I've no doubt that quality is indeed the foundation on which to build a great blog. But then the fact remains that there has to be frequent writings.

Can I do both - quality + quantity - without feeling the need of automatic content generators? Only time will tell. Meanwhile, let's have your insights too, dear readers.
